"Hey folks, I did my absolute best to make sure the information and facts presented in my book are accurate and up to date. However, due to the shifting nature of taxonomy there are bound to be things that need updating. This page is dedicated to correcting any errors/mistakes that may have made it into the book as well as keep the information as current as possible. If you happen to find an error - please don't hesitate to contact me at FascinatedByFungi@gmail.com"

Specific corrections below will be in bold to help highlight the change

Page 23: Prototaxities side bar: A 2026 publication on Prototaxities delved into imaging fossils and analyzing the composition and life style of these organisms. Due to the lack of chitin, the authors concluded that Prototaxities is not fungi but instead belongs to another lineage of extinct life. From having read the paper, it seems like the work was well done and I believe the authors findings - however, I am still waiting to read more analyses from different groups to definitively declare that Prototaxities is not fungal.

"Prototaxites was an extinct lineage of multicellular terrestrial eukaryotes"

In North America, magic mushrooms were popularized in an infamous LIFE magazine article published in 1957 by R. Gordon Wasson, who traveled to Mexico to visit with Maria Sabina, a Mazateca spiritual shaman who facilitated mushroom-based healing rituals.
